Ok so this week they released the tracklisting of Death Magnetic. Do we really need "The Unforgiven III" and did anyone pre-order any of the deluxe editions?
That Was Just Your Life
The End Of The Line
Broken, Beat and Scarred
The Day That Never Comes
All Nightmare Long
Cyanide
The Unforgiven III
The Judas Kiss
Suicide and Redemption
My Apocalypse
Ahh, In my opinion, the last good Metallica album was Justice. St. Anger had potential but ultimately they fkd that one up too, and now they seem to be trying to change their image back to being all hardcore and stuff by using the words Death, etc.............The only Death I care about is MEGADETH.
Bottom line- UIII- get it? UIII? anyway, Until we hear it there's no way to know it isn't the heaviest most brutal thing they've EVER done. However, common sense and past history don't point to that being the case. And if it is the case that it runs along the same lines as it's predecessors, let's just hope it's the final chapter to a trilogy and they're done with it.
Most looking forward to hearing "That Was Just Your Life" and "All Nightmare Long"
metallica, a name that should make us think of the brutalist band in the world but all i think of is a bunch of pussbags. Metallica had so many chances to get it right but justice was there last good album. So i am not looking forward to hearing any more pussy music from these guys(hell i don't even know if I can call them guys). See ya on the flip side.

The fabric of modern music (rock, metal, pop, rap, country, --insert genre here-- ) has drastically changed since Metallica forged their way to the top. Don't forget that their first records were just that; vinyl analog recordings. They took on the whole Napster scene almost single handedly and quite honestly have saved thousands of other bands millions of dollars.
We all want this next album to be top shelf. But thing is, none of us could agree right now what that means. The market is saturated with a staggering number of new artists and new releases. When Jimi Hendrix played Woodstock there wasn't a lot of competition. Times have changed.
I saw a Metallica interview on FUSE, some time ago now. They were genuinely defending their last release. And Lars summed it all up by saying that Metallica always has been and always will be cutting edge. They move against the grain; which is why we all love them so much historically.
But that album was their first release in "The New Fabric". While they were sobering up and dealing with personal issues the music world transformed and every joe got a guitar and digital recorder and typed in CDbaby.com
I have the same feelings I've read here from many of you; I'm expecting a lot. And because it's Metallica I don't want to be let down. But as much as I think "St. Anger" is their worst release ever, I have to say it's still shitloads better than the other 200 CDs that went to print today. So while we all hold our breath waiting for this next release, let's keep in mind that the Metallica boys are just as smart as they are rich and they are way ahead of all this banter.

Good point, well thought out. Another thing for people to keep in mind is that most modern metal bands use old school Metallica as an influence or a jumping off point. While I don't believe Metallica has had "it" for some time now, at least, good or bad, they are still trying to go into new directions rather than just becoming a nastolgia band - doing county fairs and summer pavillion packages like bands such as Journey or Dokken or Styx - just to make money.
I didn't pre-order the new cd, but I'm going to the show if there are other bands that I like playing. Truth is, without Mustaine and Burton, they have no balls, and it pisses me off, really the only thing that does make me happy is that Kirk left Exodus so their albums are better now. But they haven't released a decent metal album since ...And Justice For All. Garage Inc. was an attempt at Punk gone wrong and St. Anger sounded like it was recorded in a basement and Idon't evenwant to get into the actual music aspect there. Ifthey pull something great out of their asses, that's great, good for them, but I'm not paying for any more than a ticket to hear them play their old music.
Seriously, I never understand the Metallica haters. Did Metallica die with Cliff, obviously not. Did they change? Damn straight! If I saw my best friend get rolled by a bus with nothing but his shoe left in the road you bet your ass I would change too. These guys are 40 years old with families; of course they are going to change from when they where 17 and coked up. It is called growing up. Music is reflection of self. Now one called Aerosmith sell outs when the recorded "Don't wanna miss a thing". Instead the everyone praised them for scoring their first number one in ever. For all I care Metallica could make The Unforgiven 6000. The bottom line is that you don't listen to Metallica's music you fell it. If you looking for the next pop rock band check Myspace losers!
