Get an external hard drive. I have a limited amount of space on my laptop, I am going to have to get one for myself since I have too much music and I need the space for other things.

Alphabetically by artist perhaps

I have them in drawers.

I only have 500 or so cds. I keep them alphabetically organized by genre on separate shelves... I'm a little OCD goddammit...

I have a vast library myself -- let's not talk vinyl either. I just do it alphabetically. Ikea has some great CD storage shelves if you have the wall-space in your domicile.

Alpha by artist, then each artist chronologically. And I'm all about the Boltz steel cd racks. Expensive, yes, but they rule. http://www.boltz.com/productinfo_item_9-deptcode1_500.htm

Or you could go with the Rob Gordon method...

Please. Please. This movie bears a striking resemblance to the past year of my life. I cannot watch it anymore. It's scary in the dark. Give me a collection of Peruvian snuff films and it doesn't match up to the personal horror evoked by this movie. Page by fucking page it couldn't have been better scripted.

All will be well, Gitter, as long as you do not wear Cosby sweaters.

And, if/when the guy who stole your girl comes into your record store to "ask" you to stop calling her, you must go with the beatdown option and smash him with a portable A/C unit. Nice.

Yes!!! I love that movie. Beatdown option's the only way to go.

I prefer the CD wallpaper method looks cool and easy to deal w/ then having to use shelves or racks and it makes it so much easier for you when u need to move.

I have my CD's alphabetized in CD books, because I don't have space for a rack. However, this also leaves me with boxes and boxes of jewel cases that I'm holding on to while I save up to buy a big rack. So that may not be the best method.

You could always go with the route my sister went, and just build a large shelving system yourself. My sister got my dad (who's a professional carpenter) to build her a six-shelf bookcase-style shelf set, and it's served her well thus far.

Alphabetical, no exceptions.
