Believers In The Power of Metal

Most Anticipated METAL Releases of 2009- What Are You Looking Forward To?

Since we're looking back on the best of '08, why not look forward a bit as well? 2009 is setting up to be a brutal year for metal records, with SLAYER, NAPALM DEATH, SEPULTURA and LAMB OF GOD all bringing forth new music, just to name a few. Sooo, what are you waiting for?

As far as I'm concerned- the new Lamb of God- "Wrath" which is set to drop on February 24th via Roadrunner is what I'm most giddy over.

Wasn't aware they had one coming out. Hopefully it will kick ass. 2008 had some really good cd's come out too. Lets hope 2009 will be even better !!!

The new KISS album is what I'm looking forward to the most. Not too sure if it's coming out in 09' though.

I've already heard the new Napalm Death and Kreator albums, and they both slay!!!!!!

I'm really looking forward to the new Lamb of God and Sepultura albums, but my most highly anticipated album of 2009 is Disarmonia Mundi's The Isolation Game. I really cannot wait to hear what masterpieces Ettore and Claudio have come up with now!

Also, I'm hope that Wintersun's new album, Time, finally gets finished and released. That would make a lot of people very glad, I think.

Does anyone know if Ensiferum is working on new material yet? I want to hear something new from them soon if possible.

I already had a chance to hear about half of the new Mastodon album. It's already on my top ten for next year! it's a little more atmospheric and melodic, but still unmistakably Mastodon.

Lamb of God will be awesome. New Killswitch (with Brendan O' Brian producing) should be pretty cool too.

New Baroness, Poison the Well, Dillinger and ETID as well, and that's just the beginning. It's going to be a pretty awesome year for metal!

Oh shit, I completely forgot about KSE. that will be kick ass- and listen to you- "Mr. I've-already-heard-half-the-new-Mastodon" -whatever. rub it in, the rest of us shlubs will just have to wait, I guess... and maybe- the rumors of a Faith No More reunion will bring a new record as well? wouldn't that be sweet action?

Wha-wha-WHAT???? Adam D. is NOT producing the new Killswitch record? Lord in Heaven, are the stars falling around us?

He is co-producing with Brendan I think. Either way, he will obviously have his input. I think this was the right call for KsE, giving someone else a chance to help break the mold and push them through that ceiling and into the next level. Brendan O'Brien is a legendary producer who has produced some of my favorite albums of all time, not to mention the awesome sounding new Mastodon, so I think everything's going to be ooooooooooook.

Very true. I don't dispute Brendan's credits, because as you said, he is legendary. I'm just surprised KSE decided to break out there. But as you said, Adam D. is co-producing, so they'll still have a bit of that traditional sound there.

It's not like the next KsE is going to sound like Stone Temple Pilots. Sometimes people worry too much when they learn who the producer is. Give O'Brien credit, he's not some one-dimensional guy. None of the good producers are.

Now kids gather 'round....I can guarantee a couple things....it's gonna be heavier. It's gonna be bigger. The riffs are huge. More inventive. Jones is Jones. Best in the game when it comes to singing and screaming....and you're gonna hear lots of both!
Also, let's not forget that Brendan makes great records period end. I don't think Rage's "Evil Empire" or the new AC/DC were exactly "hit driven"...they are just great rock records. And c'mon, the guy moxed the first Getto Boys album!

I like being surprised. Music artists have become so uneven and unpredictable as of late, that I really try not to hold any expectations until I actually hear the result. Been burned wayy too many times on albums that were 'supposed to be good'.
