Believers In The Power of Metal

So I was exploring the furthest reaches of the inter-web, and stumbled upon a review of " the red album" by Baroness, It said nothing but good things so I ordered it, and very quickly fell in love with it. I got to thinking If I could only have 5 albums/bands to listen to forever, or must have albums what would they be.

in no particular order

1) Agalloch (the mantle)
2) Baroness (the red album)
3) Old In Flames ( although "a sense of purpose" is great)
4) Machinehead ( The Blackening) ( I know, I know)
5) Devin Townsend ( Metal genius, and canadian to boot)

This is a great way to discover new bands and share the belief in metal

I got into Aletheian through Apolutrosis, and I got into BTA from a friend who hosts a Christian rock and metal show on WSOU on Wednesday nights with me. BTA is definitely one of the best Christian death metal bands out there. I love them.

I don't know Alex, but I would love to meet him. Let's hope BTA/Aletheian tours near NYC or Jersey soon....

What's Sycronomica like? I love all of those other albums so if they're familiar to any of those bands, I wouldn't mind hearing them.

the most influential albums on the early part of my life in date order (when I discovered them) so for me they are must have albums

1) Black Sabbath - Paranoid/Sabotage - from my Dads record collection (mid to late 80's)
2)Slayer - Reign in blood and Megadeth - Rust in Piece (christmas 90 and how things changed !!)
3) Death - Leprosy, Human and Symbolic (tape copies from high school friend)
4)Pantera - Vulgar display of power (early 90's copy off Army bud)
5)Metallica - Ride the lightning (better than master of puppets IMHO)

More recent additions and IMHO must haves
Hate Eternal - King of Kings
Nile - Black seeds of vengeance
Cannibal Corpse - Live Cannibalism (the DVD is awesome as well)
Man Must Die - The human conditon (prob less well know on here my highly recommended band to check out if you havent already - I'm off to see them in Sheffield with Hate Eternal in June)
