That's a good point. No doubt vinyl has seen a resurgence in recent years. I wouldn't be surprised if pre-order drives started including combo deals for vinyl, though it's certainly something you rarely see. Making an educated guess, I'd have to say because:
a) main album sales come from CDs, and that's where you want to push your orders, so you throw in the t-shirt as an added incentive to buy. people who buy vinyl are collectors who have likely already made up their minds about whether or not they will buy the vinyl, and so the freebie doesn't really help
b) vinyl is more expensive to make than CDs. so you probably don't want to add to the cost by throwing in a freebie.
Though this question would probably be better answered by someone who works at retail. I'm sure someone around here can jump in...
Basically it's because we sell out of it too fast! The CD/t-shirt combo deals are always for pre-orders, if we over sell on CDs it's really no big deal to press more and get them out to our customers within a reasonable time frame. Vinyl on the other hand takes longer to duplicate, is a lot more expensive and we consistantly sell out of just about LP we release. If we offered a pre-order deal for LPs we would only end up selling more then were printed in the first run and then customers would have a totally inappropriate wait time while we make the next batch, so we don't put them up for sale until their physically in our warehouse.
That's not to say it'll never happen in the future, but as for now there's no serious discussions on the subject.
