How To Successfully Promote & Market An UNDERGROUND Metal Concert Venue?

I've been blessed with a kick ass concert hall to book metal shows at. I've been moderately successful - but need some EFFECTIVE promoting/marketing tips and strategies to get this thing off the ground.

Also, how does one go about booking national metal acts?

Anything helps! Thank you!

NOTHING works better than good old fashioned "Word of Mouth" - ensure that you're giving EVERYONE a great experience - from beginning to end.

The first thing people notice (especially metalheads) is everything that "SUCKS" - knowing this, you've got to try and curb whatever those issues may be. Maybe the parking lot sucks, maybe the stage setup, maybe the sound system, maybe the lights (or lack thereof)...

Address these issues, and continue to make adjustments to fix everything that may potentially SUCK - people will notice - word will spread - and you'll see bigger and better returns on the investment.

Also, if you have liquor, I would like to suggest a cheap DIMEBAG BLACK-TOOTH SHOT SPECIAL - I'm going to be giving them away for free at my next event - Metalheads don't need much of a reason to raise their glasses, but toasting in honor of DIMEBAG is never a bad thing.

Very true, word of mouth is the best thing. Getting touring bands in there mixed with local bands. Sound has to be at least efficient, enough to deliver power without sounding all cluttered. Runners, peeps going out of engineering school always want to get their hands on the board and help onstage, at first they don't ask for money so grab 'em (I worked at the Whisky helping on the monitors and Front of House, during my Recording school days, it helped a lot and I didn't earn a dime for 6 months). Dimebag events truly bring people too, also tattoo events and memorials and tribute events. Good security and yes, Parking!!!

cheers,
